First dragon model attempt

After learning that manipulation of an object in Maya can be heavily based around clicking and dragging; I attempted to create my own dragon - trying to find my own way through maya rather than being taught via practical tutorials. Though I have accomplished a shape of a dragon - this will include numerous T-shapes - it is not basic or clean enough; and it is filled with abstract shapes and separate elements in one mould. everything is stretched to an extremity and holds no real mould to be ready for an animation - for example; if I were to try and move this models limbs; separate stretched out polygons will stay in one area and stretch out other ways and distort the model into an abstract

shapes are uneven and not smooth; some areas dip in and others are extruded outwards into all separate shapes and strands - as seen located on the neck and tail

The cleanest area in this model would be the head; this was the most carefully constructed area of the model - then in later attempts to creating a body the model became complicated and messy. As you can see on this side- there is a gap and strange shape in the neck. There is also a shard shaped object sticking out if the leg and into to the torso; this being in result of two separate stretched objects being stretched once more (The leg is not a whole shape).
